Rubik cube formula 3x3

Move Notation Reference

  • F / B / R / L / U / D: Turn Face (Front, Back, Right, Left, Up, Down) \(90^\circ\) clockwise.
  • F' / B' / R' / L' / U' / D': Turn face \(90^\circ\) counter-clockwise (indicated with an apostrophe/prime).
  • 2 (e.g., U2, F2): Turn face \(180^\circ\).

Step 1: Daisy Pattern (Yellow Center, White Edges)

  • Hold the cube with the Yellow center on top (U).
  • Move the 4 white edge pieces around the yellow center until you see a daisy pattern (Yellow center surrounded by 4 White petals).

Step 2: The White Cross

  • Look at the non-white sticker of each daisy petal edge.
  • Turn the U layer until that side sticker matches its colored center piece.
  • Rotate that front face \(180^\circ\) (F2) to bring the white edge down to the white center.
  • Repeat for all 4 edges to form the White Cross on the bottom.

Step 3: First Layer Corners

  • Keep the White Cross on the bottom (D) and Yellow center on top (U).
  • Find a corner piece with White in the top layer.
  • Position it directly above its target slot (between the matching side center colors).
    • If the white sticker faces Right: R U R'
    • If the white sticker faces Left: L' U' L
    • If the white sticker faces Up: R U2 R' U' (and then insert using one of the above).
  • Repeat for all 4 bottom corners.

Step 4: Second Layer (Middle Edges)

  • Find an edge piece in the top (U) layer that does not contain yellow.
  • Rotate U to match the edge's front color with its matching center piece to form a vertical "T".
    • To insert edge to the Right: \(\textbf{U R U' R' U' F' U F}\)
    • To insert edge to the Left: \(\textbf{U' L' U L U F U' F'}\)
  • Repeat until all 4 middle edges are solved.

Step 5: Yellow Cross

  • Look at the yellow pattern on the top face: \(\text{Dot} \longrightarrow \text{"L" Shape} \longrightarrow \text{Horizontal Line} \longrightarrow \text{Yellow Cross}\)
  • Hold the line horizontally or the "L" shape in the top-left (9 and 12 on a clock), then perform: \(\textbf{F R U R' U' F'}\)
  • Repeat until a full yellow cross appears on top.

Step 6: Orient Yellow Corners (Sune Algorithm)

  • Hold the cube with yellow on top:
    • If you have 1 yellow corner, place it in the front-left.
    • If you have 0 or 2 yellow corners, place a yellow sticker facing left in the front-left position.
  • Perform the Sune algorithm: \(\textbf{R U R' U R U2 R'}\)
  • Repeat until the entire top (Yellow) face is solid yellow.

Step 7: Position Yellow Corners

  • Look for headlights (two matching corner colors on one side).
  • If you have headlights, place them on the Back face and perform: \(\textbf{R' F R' B2 R F' R' B2 R2}\) (Handwritten variant from your sheet): \(\mathbf{F'\ L\ F'\ R2\ F\ L'\ F'\ R2\ F2}\)
  • If no headlights are present, perform the algorithm once from any angle, locate the resulting headlights, position them at the back, and repeat.

Step 8: Position Yellow Edges (Final Step)

  • If one side is fully solved, face it away from you (Back).
  • To cycle the remaining 3 edges:
    • Clockwise: \(\mathbf{F2\ U\ R'\ L\ F2\ R\ L'\ U\ F2} \quad \text{or} \quad \mathbf{R\ U'\ R\ U\ R\ U\ R\ U'\ R'\ U'\ R2}\)
    • Counter-Clockwise: \(\mathbf{F2\ U'\ R'\ L\ F2\ R\ L'\ U'\ F2} \quad \text{or} \quad \mathbf{R2\ U\ R\ U\ R'\ U'\ R'\ U'\ R'\ U\ R'}\)
  • If no sides are fully solved, run the algorithm once, face the newly completed side to the back, and repeat once more.
